Evening offers career-planning support, mentorship and inspiration for young men
Burlington, Ontario (April 18, 2018) – Halton Industry Education Council is pleased to announce the annual Men as Career Coaches event to bring together young men in the Halton region with adult male mentors for a night of open conversations about occupational pathways, post-secondary destinations and work/life balance.
Now in its ninth year, the event seeks to inspire male high school students to explore the wide variety of post-secondary options available to them. Spotlight speakers will share their own career journeys; offer insights gained throughout their careers and consider what advice they might give their younger selves.
Speakers for the 2018 event include:
– Bob Egan Musician, Community Advocate, Entrepreneur
– Mohamad Fakih CEO, Paramount Fine Foods
– Joe Fowler General Machinist Apprentice, ABBA Pump Parts & Service
– Steve Hasselman District Superintendent Parks, City of Hamilton
Men from all backgrounds and careers are encouraged to sign up as mentors to share their own career stories with student attendees.

What: 9th Annual Men as Career Coaches event
When: Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 5:15 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Where: Burlington Convention Centre, 1120 Burloak Drive
The event is free to both students and mentors and is made possible through corporate sponsorships and crowdfunding. Registration is required and space is limited. Interested students can register online or through their school, while mentors can visit www.hiec.on.ca/macc for more information or to register.
Buffet dinner included.
